After the first month of operation, the hydrotechnical drainage network for the new industrial park in Halle has shown stable performance under moderate rainfall events. The system, designed according to DWA-A 118 and compliant with WHG §55, handles the calculated 5-year recurrence interval without surface ponding. The retention basin with a controlled outflow of 15 L/s per hectare has kept the downstream municipal sewer within its hydraulic capacity.
What stood out during this initial period was the reliability of the telemetry-based water level monitoring. The pressure sensors in the main shafts transmitted data without interruption, and the SCADA interface allowed real-time comparison with the design parameters. One unexpected finding was the sediment accumulation in the pre-treatment chamber after the first heavy rain – the grit trap required manual cleaning earlier than the maintenance schedule predicted. This is a point we will adjust in the operational plan.
The documentation for the water authority (WHG §9 permit) was complete and the inspection passed without objections. The only minor issue was a delayed response from the remote alarm system during a power dip, which was resolved by updating the UPS configuration. Overall, the system meets the technical specifications, and the engineering assumptions from the planning phase have been confirmed by the field data.
